The Wave Packing List

Clothing

Please bring two large suitcases of clothes that will last for two weeks.

Please remember that Malaysia does not have seasons; it is hot and tropical all year round.

2 x pairs of sports shoes/trainers
2 x pairs of flip flops/thongs
1 x pair of walking shoes/sandals
1 x pair of indoor sport shoes
Slippers
1 x pair of shoes for regular wear, excursions and outings, family therapy, etc.
Long lightweight trousers/jeans
Outdoor/sports trousers
Sweatshirt/jacket (not a requirement but can be useful)
Jogging pants suitable for P.T.
Lightweight sportswear (suitable for yoga, Muay Thai, running, tennis, golf, etc.)
5 x pairs of hiking shorts/’skorts’ or similar
Cycling shorts/leggings (not essential but good for walking/cycling activities)
Warm sweaters (without hoods)
A throw/scarf/wrap for temple visits (to cover shoulders)
T-shirts (singlets/vest tops are for the gym only)
14 x pairs of socks
14 x sets of underwear
Sport bra(s)/layers
Pyjamas or nightshirt/shorties/nightdress
Dressing gown (we provide dressing gowns, however you are welcome to bring your
favourite from home)
Lightweight waterproof jacket (optional)
Showerproof coat
Long-sleeved lightweight tops for walking/exploring
2 x caps/sunhats for outdoor/sun use
4 x swimwear options (shorts, one piece, long-sleeved swim tops, goggles, floats
and hats are permitted)
2 x cover ups for after-water activities (if required)

* Young people in our Eating Disorder Programs should have a selection of clothes for mealtimes, without pockets or concealed areas, for example, simple slip dresses for girls or sports shorts for boys.

Comfort Items

Framed photographs of family/friends/pets
1 x soft bed throw or blanket (if required)
Pillow cases (we have everything here, however if there is anything that makes you
feel more at home, please bring it with you)
Games/art/soft toys/favourite items
Books/magazines/puzzles/writing materials
A list of your favourite songs, podcasts, meditations or movies. (We will set you up
with your personal playlists on arrival.)
Address details for friends and family, if you would like to write.
Skype ID for family sessions
Polaroid camera and films (not necessary, but often fun)

Ancillary Items

Small weekend bag/holdall
2 x sunglasses
Glasses/disposable contact lenses/lenses (enough for three months)
Medication as prescribed (sealed and named, in plastic resealable bags)
Roll-on deodorant/antiperspirant (no aerosols please)
2 x toothbrush and toothpaste
Tampons/sanitary towels
Hairbrush/hair accessories/hairdryer (whilst we have supplies, you may prefer to
bring your own)
Mosquito repellant
Anti-bac hand wipes (these are provided, however you may wish to travel with
additional)
Moisturiser/make up/facial creams/makeup remover/wipes
Travel adaptor (3-pin, UK-style plugs)
Shaving supplies: one-use disposable razors (boys); hair removal cream (girls) – if
required
Hair products, including shampoo/conditioner/gel/wax/hair ties/bands and clips

Housekeeping Services

We have a wonderful housekeeping team. They will take care of laundry and day-today needs. Please bring clothes that are machine-washable only. The laundry service uses hypo-allergenic washing powder.

The Wave is not liable for any damage to clothing or misplaced/lost clothing.
The Wave is not liable for damage to personal belongings. Please leave valuables at
home.

Travel Insurance

Please send or bring a copy of your most recent policy documents.

If you do not have travel insurance, or if you prefer to pay privately for any additional needs, please let our administration team know in advance.

Vaccinations

There are currently no required vaccinations for travel from most countries to Malaysia.

Things to Leave at Home

All valuables. Please try to leave anything that has significant or sentimental value at home. The Wave is not able to accept liability for damage, loss or breakage of your items.

Laptops/iPads/Games Consoles
Sharp items, including some craft or hobby items
Jewellery
Aerosols
Any items containing alcohol (including some mouthwash brands).
Hand sanitiser is provided for all young people and families in all facilities, cars and on
excursions.

We would ask that you leave at home any clothing items that have slogans that promote the use of drugs, violence or sex. Anything that is ‘low-cut’, very short, revealing or transparent.

Please leave snacks and other food items at home.

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT MALAYSIA HAS INCREDIBLY STRICT DRUG LAWS – DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BRING SUBSTANCES NOT PRESCRIBED FOR YOU INTO MALAYSIA.
