Our Programs

Our trauma-focused programs – for eating disorders, mental health and addictions – are designed specifically for teenagers, young adults and their families.

The Wave Programs for Teenagers

The Wave Programs for Teenagers, Young Adults and Families

The Wave was created for young people and the families who love them. The Wave Programs offer young people the opportunity to combine exceptional medical care, with therapeutic excellence in a trauma-focused environment that offers opportunities for growth and discovery. They provide a creative haven for young people to connect with others, enjoy new experiences and recover. As one of the world’s leading adolescent treatment providers, we take pride in offering programs that are just a little bit different.

The Wave Programs are loved by families from around the world. Our 12-week minimum stay, medium to long-term trauma treatment and therapeutic boarding options, provide young people and families with programs that combine treatment with education and GAP year experiences, global citizenship with community and adventure.

The Wave provides creative solutions to recovery that young people feel proud to be part of and that families trust.

Eating Disorder Program

Eating Disorder Program

The Wave Eating Disorder Programs are one of very few programs around the world that take a trauma-focused approach to Eating Disorder Care. Our young people enjoy an incredibly high rate of long-term and sustained recovery.

The Wave Eating Disorder Programs are able to admit young people from around the world, who would benefit from inpatient or residential treatment for Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID and other food and body related concerns.

Trauma Treatments

Trauma Treatments

The Wave is a trauma-focused specialist centre for teenagers, young adults and families. We are trauma-informed in everything that we do. Our teams are trained in evidence-based trauma treatments for young people and their families.

The impact of trauma in childhood and during the teenage years can last a lifetime. Current research suggests that the impact of childhood trauma significantly affects our physical health, mental health and the risk of experiencing further traumatic lifetime events.

Trauma treatment is carried out by specially trained mental health practitioners. At The Wave our teams are certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Specialists and all are trained in Child and Adolescent Trauma at Postgraduate level. The Wave Clinical team is trained in EMDR and evidence-based trauma treatments, including DBT, TF-CBT, IFS and TRE.

Trauma treatment at The Wave is for a minimum of 12 weeks and is supported by a treatment team that includes Consultant Adolescent Psychiatrists, Psychotherapists and Trauma specialist coaches.

Mental Health Program

Mental Health Program

Our Residential Mental Health Program is trauma-focused and specifically designed for teenagers, young adults and families. We understand that young people need time, stability and a safe space to recover from mental illness and our minimum stay of 12 weeks ensures that they enjoy a stable community and benefit from minimal disruption during their treatment at The Wave. As a result, our young people enjoy an incredibly high rate of long-term and sustained recovery.

Our Mental Health Programs are able to admit young people from around the world, who would benefit from inpatient or residential treatment for a range of mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, self-harm, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia.

Residential Treatment Program

Addiction Program

Teens and young adults under the age of 26 have a significantly better chance of sustained recovery in programs specifically designed for their age group.

The Wave Programs for substance and process addictions provide intensive and comprehensive treatment, specifically for young people, in a structured and supervised environment. Our young people benefit from personalised treatment plans and daily schedules that promote and reinforce healthy behaviours and routines for recovery.

The Wave Addiction Programs have a 100% completion rate with the vast majority of young people and their families reporting sustained recovery one year after treatment.

Family Short Stays

Family Therapy

At The Wave, we see families as our partners in the treatment process. Consistent parenting, supporting treatment and encouraging medication compliance are some of the ways that families can help.

We like to ensure that we are all working towards the same goals. Family support and the rebuilding of family relationships is an essential part of the healing process.

Our Programs offer a range of family services, including Family Therapy, Sibling Therapy, Family Therapy Intensives and Family Short Stays.

We’re Online

While it is a challenging time right now, here at The Wave we continue to provide excellence in the treatment of teenagers, young adults and families. We choose to focus on the things we can do to make a difference today.

Our psychiatric services are available on both a residential and outpatient basis and our online services remain unchanged.

My experience at The Wave was one of regaining a joy for life and learning how to care and show affection to the ones I love. If it wasn’t for The Wave team I wouldn’t be the woman I am today. The nurturing nature of the therapists and other staff members allowed me to learn how to open my own heart, be honest with myself and others, and find my true self. Completing The Wave Eating Disorder Program has given me a second shot at life.
