Our parents, past and present, form a network to support incoming families.

I have been trying to put into words the deeply felt thank you I have for the work and dedication you and The Wave Clinic have done and shown with B and our family. Words do not express the extent of my gratitude.

As it may be helpful for other parents I have also written a few brief words on what I have learned as a parent of a teenager facing challenging mental health issues and the support I received from The Wave.

The first lesson I have learned is that as parents we are not prepared or equipped to deal single handed with the mental health issues our children may face. We need the support of mental health practitioners.

The other big lesson is that mental health requires a deep involvement and interest from a range of practitioners and not all are willing to get involved with the depth and interest that is needed. One of the possible consequences is having our children live a life way more limited than their potential. I bring this up also to say that the care, kindness and involvement provided at The Wave Clinic exceeded all my expectations and previous experiences.

Our family was deeply involved in the treatment plan carried out by The Wave Clinic in all stages of treatment. And this provided for an extra level of support when my world seems to be crumbling apart.
